Violet Vibes

This beautiful and vibrant modern living room is a node to the owner's Indian heritage. The inspiration of the room came from the colorful sofa set from Istikbal Furniture Store in Clifton, New Jersey. The idea of the dramatic purple wall is from one of the accent pillows that came with the sofa. It was a risky choice, but in the end it worked very well.

The whole room just took off from there.

How it all came together

The room started to come together once the sofa is placed and the walls painted. Instead of art work on the large wall behind the sofa, we settled for a verse from an ancient Indian text hand scripted on to the wall in gold, which essentially became the focal point of the room. A pair of narrow ladder shelves were placed on either side of the script. Against the wall opposite to the large sofa, we placed a small accent table. Most of the decorations came from the artifacts that were already in the house, except for a few pieces.
