The Rustic Retreat

By May 2020, it was clear that my older daughter is not going to campus as a freshman like we had planned. She was going to be home for at least the first year of college and she needed an upgraded bedroom. She knew she wanted a modern room with a rustic feel. Luckily, we already had a few elements that we could use - a beautiful rustic/industrial style bed, a pair of ladder bookshelves and a stylish rustic ceiling fan.

So, the project began!

How it all came together

We started with a fresh coat of off white paint on three walls. We decided to paint the accent wall black to give it a nice contrast. The new focal point of the room is the bed against the accent wall. It looks gorgeous with the ladder book shelves on either side. We positioned a new writing desk and a chair to the previously unused area near the door and added additional shelvings. We finished off the look with some greenery, decorative pieces, new bed coverings, accent pillows and storage hooks. What a transformation!
