French Cross Frame Armchair!

When I decided to give my dining room a makeover, one corner was still missing something. I envisioned a small accent chair, something cozy and stylish, to complete the look. But as much as I searched, I couldn't find exactly what I had in mind. My youngest daughter had also expressed a desire for a chair in the dining room, so the search became a little more pressing.
After weeks of browsing, I stumbled upon a chair on Facebook Marketplace that was in pretty rough shape—broken, worn, and frankly, a little weird looking. At first glance, it didn’t seem like anything special, but I saw potential. It was the perfect size for the space, and I thought I could work with it.
I decided to take a chance, bringing it home to give it a second life. Little did I know that what I had found was not just a chair, but a hidden gem.
How it came together
After giving it a thorough sanding (which took hours), painting, upholstering, and adding my finishing touches, the transformation was unbelievable. It wasn't until I used Google Lens to identify the style that I realized I had stumbled upon a French Cross Frame Armchair! To my surprise, these chairs can be priced up to $500, but with a little creativity and a lot of effort, I had made this piece my own for a fraction of the cost.
This makeover not only completed the look of my dining room (post upcoming) but also reminded me of the beauty and value of reusing and revamping furniture. It’s a perfect example of how a little Jugaad—ingenuity and resourcefulness—can go a long way.
